Are you looking for somewhere a bit special for that extra special occasion ?

In the heart of the historical Orchardleigh Estate is the stunning Peacock Restaurant and Stag Lounge, which is getting a well-deserved reputation for an exclusive, and wonderfully placed venue, but which also offers an extra personal touch.

We spoke to owner Heather Vincent, who told us about all the events they have already hosted, and why guests will be treated like friends.

So tell us a little about the venue?

The Peacock Restaurant and Stag Lounge opened in March 2020 - initially as an independent restaurant, however due to the timing of the opening coinciding with the first lockdown, it was later decided to keep it as a private function space offering meals and breakfasts, as an addition to our three day Wedding Package, as well as private functions. This has proved hugely successful and an excellent asset to our already very popular wedding service, which we obviously love to host.

But we have held birthday parties from those who are just turning 21 right through to birthday celebrations of those who are in the 80s. And we have done an absolutely beautiful christening - and of course not forgetting the famed Orchardleigh staff Christmas Party!

Orchardeigh, which is between Frome and Buckland Dinham is in itself a wonderful place to visit

Yes it is. Orchardleigh is a family owned heritage site, which was sadly left to disrepair after the last of the Duckworths passed. Chris Vincent bought it and transformed it into the wonderful wedding venue it is today, a magical 500 acre estate with its own castle.

Orchardleigh has something for everyone. There are two gorgeous wedding venues on site, the Glorious Elmhay Park Walled Garden and Orangery, and of course the magnificent Orchardleigh House. That is a traditional Victorian mansion with 41 bedrooms, ballroom, billiard room and library, with stunning gardens and views overlooking the 23 acre lake.

And don't forget the golf ! The estate is home to the 18 hole Brian Huggett-designed golf course, and the Orchardleigh Golf Club is open seven days a week.

So service is at the heart of what you do ?

Absolutely, but what guests might not know is that, as we are a family run business, we pride ourselves on a personal service; we like to treat everyone as our own personal guests. And that you can hire one of our rooms for free if you have 30 or more guests.
