This Frome company began with just three tents, but it can now create a complete luxury village for every special occasion under canvas.

Southern Bells offers something extra special for events, from a small welcome to the smallest new member of a family, through to enough room for a full-scale wedding, and everything in between. But the couple behind the company won't be stopping here, they have their sights set on bringing their bell tents to Glastonbury Festival 2024, so Frome Nub News went to find out a little more.

Tell me about your business and what you offer?

"We started Southern Bells in the summer of 2019. Josh has worked in the event hire business for 16 years (since he was 14 years old) and he and myself have always enjoyed being outdoors. So his experience, combined with our interests, led to the decision to set up our business hiring bell tents. We started off with three tents, and have built up our stock steadily over the past four years meaning we can now offer glamping villages of up to 20 tents. "

And who are your customers ?

"We offer a range of different sized canvas bell tents, bringing a beautiful outdoors vibe to all events. We mostly set up for weddings, as outdoors and festival-style weddings are becoming increasingly popular. We've had a lot of requests from couples who wish to create a bell tent 'village', which always look amazing and is fantastic for creating a laid-back, festival style vibe. But we also hire them out for just about any occasion - Hen do's, baby showers, even just the one tent for sleepovers in the garden. We love seeing what our customers want to do with them."

" The bell tents are always pleasant to look at, are surprisingly spacious inside, and are perfect for creating the rustic atmosphere and an amazing backdrop for photos. However, depending on the nature of your event, they're also really versatile in terms of fitting with many themes. They can also be used as social or chill-out tents, as well as just sleeping in. We've even had our tents used for tarot readings at an awesome festival wedding in Frome !"

So you can, excuse the pun - really ring in the changes with the bell tents?

"Yes ! They're a great finishing touch for weddings and really match the countryside aesthetic, but how you use them and style them is completely up to the customer. We absolutely love witnessing the final product and how the tents tie in with our customers' special day. "

And how fast can you put up one of these special structures?

Josh can put up a bell tent in just 15 minutes.. wow... while co-owner Sarah is still trying to break the hour mark !
