Police have confirmed that they have arrested 27 year old James Tallon, after a large scale hunt and appeal for public help in finding where he was.

The force released a witness appeal on Thursday (December 12) asking the public who knew about his whereabouts to call 101. They wanted to question him in connection with several offences, including the burglary of an elderly woman in the town.

The public were warned not to approach him as it was believed he could be armed.

For two days it was believed that he was on the run, and it was alleged that he escaped into the Somerset drain system to avoid being arrested.

He was arrested just after midnight today (Tuesday December 17) on St Mary's Road in Frome.
