Locally based musician and writer, Vicki Burke, is to launch her new album upstairs at the Three Swans on Monday 28th March at 7.30pm with a special evening of music, chat and readings. After the success of her book launch last month, Vicki is swiftly moving forward with her CD, the companion to the book, called Beauty in the Beast - A Musical Journey into the Labyrinth. This beautiful collection of songs have been written for harp and voice and been recorded with a full band composed of some of the best musicians from the South West and beyond.

Vicki will be joined by violinist Gina Griffin and bassist Helen Seymour recreating songs from the album live in the intimate upstairs room at the Three Swans. The CD also features Mike Hoddinott on drums and Anders Olinder on keyboards, two superb musicians. Vicki said: 'I feel so honoured to have all these amazing musicians playing on my album, I've worked with all of those involved in many bands so bringing them together for this project was a real treat '

The songs takes people on a journey of reconciliation and although the path is not an easy one, the listener is taken to a place offering positive choices bringing inspiration and hope. The CD which comes as a double album pack includes a musical spoken word journey which together with the songs is already grabbing attention from critics and has been been quoted as being: 'a profoundly moving experience' 'fundamentally inspiring' 'quite unique!'

During the performance Vicki will tell stories explaining how this project came into being and also be reading from the book. There will be a chance for Q&A and being at the Three Swans there will be a lovely selection of wines and beers available at the bar.

Places are limited so please book your place by emailing [email protected]

or private message Vicki Burke on Facebook. You can also turn up on the night and take your chance with getting a seat. Vicki's last album launch in 2017 was totally oversubscribed with standing room only so its best to book in advance.

Following the launch Vicki and her musicians will be taking the new work on tour so catch them in her hometown while you can.
