The very popular park cafe in Victoria Park Frome is closing at the end of this month, but for a new team to take it on.

The cafe, is currently run by the staff from Lotte, down at Badcox. When they said they were closing up at the end of September there were fears that the cafe, which serves ice cream, coffee and cakes, would close up for good.

But in a notice posted by Frome Town Council, it was announced that a new group will be taking over.

Back in July FTC advertised for a new partner to work the cafe saying it was a 'blank canvas' for the new organisation to take on. They invited bids back in July stating:

Victoria Park is Frome's oldest park; and one of the most popular, well-loved and well-used parks in the town. Immediately next door, Mary Baily has opportunities for play; formal and informal sport; and general recreation. We envision the café in the park serving as a community hub for people coming to both spaces. Regular opening hours will make it a space to connect, meet, nourish, discover and play. In our new and playful town, the café will also provide access to resources and opportunities for children and adults to play. Affordable prices will ensure accessibility for all. And welcoming staff can use their local knowledge to signpost people into community projects. Essential A commitment to regular opening hours (e.g. 8am – 6pm in the summer months) The premises are a blank canvas – café equipment would need to be provided Willingness for staff to take part in training to enable community signposting Management of play resources on site Enthusiasm for the vision and your own ideas for how it might be realised Desirable Daily affordable meal options (e.g. between 3pm and 5pm) Involvement in events as they happen in the park Willingness for local community organisations to host meetings and small events in the café
