Hairdresser and barber Gabriela Kleynhans is a super fan of Game Of Thrones so the name of her new salon, will not surprise, but what is unexpected is that while this Frome salon looks very different, the service is as reassuring as the much-loved hairdressers and barber shop she took on.
The decor of the salon, on Selwood Road in Frome, reflects her love of the series, and when the opportunity to take over the well-established Uptown site came up due to the retirement of the previous manager, she jumped at the chance.
But while Gabriela is keen to stress that number 45 Selwood Road has a new name, and a new look, it is still very much open to those former regulars and more traditional customers too. For a start hair dresser Jason is on his way back into the salon, and will be working there again from the middle of this month. Loyal clients who remember him will be reassured, and will be pleased to see prices are still very reasonable and affordable.
So too will those who had relied on the more 'traditional' hair dressing treats; So perms and shampoo and sets are still on the board, while Gaby has introduced newer treatments and she wants to reassure male clients, she IS a barber, so men's hair cuts ARE in.
The popular hairdresser who previously managed a salon in the centre of Frome for nearly four years explained: " Regulars should be happy we will be still doing all the old services, it may look very different, but our commitment to customers is the same."
Not that the salon is standing still - one other innovation is a tablet to entertain younger clients as they get a hair cut. " It makes it much easier to cut your child's hair and they enjoy it more too. I had a customer yesterday who has autism so I put on his favourite show and he was really happy to let me do his hair as he watched the screen."
In the next few months the Hair of Thrones is planning on having a beautician join the team and if you could help with the expansion Gaby would be happy to hear from you.
Meantime she wants to be an open door to old and new clients : " I have always wanted to have my own salon and I left the previous salon on good terms, but when this opportunity presented itself I had to jump at it. Please come and drop in and have a chat.. I would love to see you. "
Uptown Hairdressers & Barbers on Selwood Road closed earlier this year after over a decade in business, and only due to Pauline retiring.
