It has already got a reputation as a great local pub and now its chef has been shortlisted for a national award, considered the Oscars of the pub industry.

The young chef James Clark at The White Corsley Smokehouse has been shortlisted for the young pub chef of the year in the Great British Pub Awards.

James, who has overcome an eye condition to be top of his game, is now on the shortlist after already getting through two rigorous rounds of judging.

The results will be known on September when the pub is live streaming the results and there will be a party, whatever the outcome.

The pub, just over the border in Wiltshire on the way to Longleat, is a well loved community pub, which during the holidays helped local families with takeaway free lunches for children.

Best of luck James !
