A green rubbish collection revolution is quietly underway for the Somerset Waste Partnership as it takes on its first electric collection truck.
After a successful three-month trial in the Bridgwater area, an electric refuse vehicle has been bought and will be used on routes across the county.

Mendip council is to stop buying up commercial property following changes in borrowing regulations.
Like many other local authorities, Mendip District Council has been using taxpayers' money to make commercial investments, using the rental income to provide long-term funding for front-line services.
Pupils and staff at Mells Church of England First School have been celebrating after receiving a glowing report from their recent Ofsted inspection, which saw them retain their 'Good' status under a tougher Ofsted framework, whilst also recognising that the school encourages pupils to 'dream big'.
Parents also agree that staff create a nurturing, safe and friendly environment for their children.

Residents are being urged to get the date for the 2019 Frome Children's Festival firmly in their diaries in the lead up to the well-loved annual event.
The event is in its sixth year and was chosen by the local community as one of the People's Budget vote winners. And this year, the line-up is better than ever with activities on offer being suggested by local children during events such as Frome Town Council's 'Make it Happen' youth conference.
