A fire appliance from Frome was mobilised following a call from the occupant of a property saying they had a chimney fire involving their log burner. Piping which connected the log burner to the chimney, had disconnected causing smoke logging to the room.
Shortly after arriving our crew confirmed this to be the case (it was the flue that disconnected) and that as a result the room of origin was smoke logged. They set to work with a stirrup pump and small tools preventing the fire from spreading and ventilating the room.
By 18:05hrs the fire had been extinguished and the area made safe. Once they were satisfied that there were no hotspots (checking with the use of a thermal imaging camera) and giving from fire safety advice, duty of care was left the occupants.
