With the NHS under extreme pressure in the midst of the most critical stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Avon and Somerset Local Resilience Forum (LRF) has sought to provide assistance where possible to assist health colleagues on the frontline.

The LRF – which is made up of emergency services, local authorities, NHS organisations and other key agencies – is meeting multiple times a week to provide additional resources to tackle the health emergency and keep the public safe. These range from offering extra staff to tackling logistical challenges as part of the vaccine roll-out.

Water companies have agreed to make real-time data on sewage discharges available at bathing sites all year round, meaning surfers, swimmers and other water users can check the latest information – especially after heavy rainfall. They will also accelerate work to install monitoring devices to create a complete picture of their activity by 2023.

The companies, according to a government press release, will also increase transparency around when and how storm overflows are used.

It was a rare wake up to some pretty impressive snow today (January 24) in Frome.

There were some early morning difficulties for motorists who struggled to get up Bath Street, with at least one driver involved in a crash, and other cars needing four-wheel driving friends to get them up.

The colourful Frome Saturday market in pre coronavirus days

Stall holders wanting Mendip District Council to reconsider their decision to halt the town's Saturday market will be at Frome Library tomorrow (Saturday January 23) collecting signatures and talking to customers.

As reported on Nub News stallholders say that the market was closed without a good enough reason and with out any consultation with local customers or traders.
