We run the course for those thinking of keeping bees themselves or helping someone else with their bees. Of course, this doesn't always work out for one reason or another but here are a few things to think about before signing up:
1. Bees are livestock. You need to make sure you have time to look after them properly.
2. It can cost in excess of £200-£300 to get started with a hive, protective equipment, bees etc
3. You will need a suitable place to keep your bees
4. You might need to source your own bees if there are no bee colonies available locally
5. Are you generally allergic to stings and bites? Beekeepers get stung, it is unavoidable. Are you happy about this?
