Luckily no one was hurt in this incident at a Frome chip shop, which saw a car reversed into the plate glass window.

A very shaken driver reversed into Codswallop chip shop on Forest Road.

Police were called there at 9.30 this morning following reports that he had reversed directly into the chip shop, crashing the doors and with the car actually inside the premises.

The driver, a man in his 80s, was freed from the vehicle by the fire and rescue service. He was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries not believed life-threatening or life-changing.

Officers remained at the scene until about 11.20am.

The team at Codswallop say that they are just grateful that no one was hurt.

And in a sign of generosity - and understanding that accidents can happen - they have told the driver he can get some free fries on them.

They told Nub News: "We are just so glad no one was hurt. When we are back up and running my husband told the driver to come in for free fish and chips.... accidents happen."
