Frome Library will be closed from the end of this month for six weeks.
The closure is due to engineering works on the building which Frome Nub News asked for more details on.

A spokesperson for Somerset County Council said: “Somerset Libraries have been fortunate to receive government funding to undertake some decarbonisation work at Frome Library.

“The works will include installing an air source heat pump, upgrading the electrical supply, replacing windows, adding loft insulation, making ventilation adjustments, and installing new heat emitters. The Library needs to be closed for six weeks as there would be no heating or hot water supply to the building, as well as health and safety issues that would make the building unable to be occupied by staff and the public.

“As part of the Somerset County Council’s climate emergency strategy, this building work will have a significant impact on reducing the carbon footprint of Frome Library, in addition to other council-owned buildings that are also undergoing similar building improvements.

“More information about Somerset’s strategy to become carbon neutral by 2030 can be found by visiting: Climate Emergency (”
