The Spar and Post Office in Rodden Road Frome was closed this morning after an early hours ram raid.

The store doors were rammed at around 2.30 am this morning (November 24) with thieves making off in a car with an unspecified amount.

This morning the store was still closed at 10 am while the team waited for forensic officers who will be taking evidence from the sliding doors of the shop which were destroyed in the raid. Officers were also at the scene at 2.30 am this morning, following a call out by the manager who was notified by the alarm system.

It is still too early to report exactly what has been stolen, or who was involved, but the popular shop did have CCTV. This has been given over to officers who later today will be putting out a crime number for anyone who may have seen anything.

It is believed that the thieves made off with cigarettes and alcohol, but again the formal details have not yet been released. But for staff at the site today, waiting to learn when the shop will be able to re-open, there was just relief that none of them were inside when it happened.
