It has been a dismal year for the arts, but we'd like to let you know that the Frome Festival is planning to be back again from the 2nd – 11th July 2021. Following the Covid 19 cancellation this year, we are currently planning for a full programme to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
Here are a few words from Martin Dimery, Festival Director:
"We have to finalise our schedule in late February, so we will still be unsure as to what challenges Coronavirus might present, but we have learned a lot from last year. We now feel confident that, even if there are restrictions, some events should be able to run. So we have a full Festival programme already beginning to take shape, but a standby contingency that will allow safe-distanced outdoor events to run, including our ever-popular Hidden Gardens and also performances every night on the ECOS amphitheatre next to the Merlin Theatre. We are arranging for a canopy to be fitted over the stage to allow all kinds of events on ECOS to take place.
If all goes well and we have no Covid restrictions, the programme promises to be spectacular. Some acts have been re-scheduled from last year and others added. The Cheese and Grain already has six major artists provisionally booked and we'll be announcing the line up as soon as we can. We are also planning a Frome Festival exhibition at Rook Lane Arts, featuring an array of art and memorabilia from many of the wonderful past 20 years."
