A raft of old films about Frome have been released by the BBC, including one on how a fireman loved the town so much he commuted every day from Selwood Crescent to Slough - after a few cigarettes at five am.

He told the reporter he and his wife believed it was worth the hundreds of miles of commuting, just to live in "Gorgeous Frome."

Other titles on the BBC rewind archive include a piece on re-thatching the bandstand in Frome from 1974 and a longer piece looking around the town in 1977.
