Drivers in Frome have been vocal on social media complaining that even as petrol prices fall those decreases are not being passed on at local pumps.

Motorists have reported paying much lower prices in Frome than over in Wiltshire in Trowbridge, while one posted that over in Wales they filled up last week for £1.38 a litre.

Today (January 10) the Automobile Association recorded that average prices across the UK have now fallen below £1.50 a litre for first time since Russia invaded Ukraine.

But according to the BBC it is not such good news for diesel drivers.

Diesel prices were still higher than they were last year at 172.21p a litre. Diesel cost 153.05p per litre when the Russian invasion began.

AA spokesman Luke Bosdet said it now cost about £23 less to fill a typical car (with a 55 litre tank) with petrol than it did in July 2022.
