Frome Nub News is not used to reporting this kind of story, but the Barclays branch at the bottom of Stony Street in Frome is extending its opening hours.

Unlike many branches across Somerset the bank has increased its opening times.

Thank you to The Leveller Somerset newspaper to alerting us to the change. The branch was previously only open until 2pm on Tuesdays and Mondays, but now it is open from 9.30 pm until 4.30 pm.

Having at one stage being closed on a Wednesday it is now open from 10 am until 4.30 pm.

The Barclays is still closed all day Thursday and sadly closed on Saturdays.

Barclays spokesperson said: "Our aim is to be open for customers during peak times although some branch operating hours are slightly different compared to before the pandemic. I can confirm we currently have no plans to open Frome branch on Thursdays."

Today ( October 20 ) Lloyds Banking Group announced that it is closing 48 more branches .

The group, which announced multibillion-pound profits in July, will shut 41 Lloyds Bank and seven Halifax branches across England and Wales between January and April 2022.

The banking group closed 56 branches in spring, and a further 44 will close for good by November.
