In planning news this week:

In case you missed it an application to build 30 dwellings (21 market, nine affordable), with public open space and other associated infrastructure in Beckington, has been formally listed as refused.

Mendip planners ruled that the development would create "less than substantial harm" to Grade II listed buildings in the adjacent Goose Street and the Beckington Conservation Area.

There were countless objections to the plans, put in by Redrow Homes Ltd, who have already appealed an earlier refusal of their plans.

One of the objectors wrote that Beckington had repeatedly said "No" to the "Nightmare" plans adding that the village will accept more houses on the 'infill to the dual carriageway' site, provided it included a desperately needed new doctors' surgery provision.

The application has now been refused for a third time, but once again the company is expected to appeal. For a full review of the news story from the Local Democracy reporter, click HERE the Frome Nub News site last week

An application has been put in for a non-material amendment to permission 2019/2982/FUL which is for the Construction Management Plan for the building work in Keyford in Frome. That site is a former transport depot and there is planning permission (2016/0558/FUL) for nine homes and an office building, with a subsequent permission (2019/2982/FUL) for seven new homes and an office. This application has been made on behalf of John Snelgrove Limited on Victoria Road in Frome and concerns the movement of building materials and work across the surrounding road network during the construction process. The purpose of the CMP is to ensure disruption is minimised and it also sets the prescribed hours of operation and methods of working to ensure consideration is given to surrounding neighbours.
