Is it a bird - or a piece of art?

Well both, and also a fund raiser for Fair Frome, who will be getting a tall order of beans thanks to the creativity of local pupils..

Last year students in Years 9 and 10 at Frome College were set a 'Fine Dining Beans Challenge' as a bit of fun.

But it was also an opportunity for the students to practice making their meals as big a feast for their eyes as their stomachs.

The teacher responsible, Emily McMunn who is Head of Food & DT at Frome College said: " The response was fantastic with Gil Privett (Year 9) winning first prize for his beautifully plated swans (perfectly apt as it was around Valentine's Day.)

"I said to the students that I would donate the winner's height in beans (and tins) to the Frome Food bank.

" Since he is 160cm tall that equates to around 15 tins. "

Runners up were equally impressive. Also in Year 9, Ashleigh Gahagan and Cameron Vince.

Well done Gil - and Nub News is really pleased and we are sure Fair Frome will be too, that you are so tall.
