Bikes are wheeling in for Frome's Bike Jumble

By Guest 23rd Jun 2021

Dozens of bikes have already been donated to this year's Bike Jumble, which is taking place outside Frome library on Sunday 27th June, from 10am – 2pm and organised by Frome's Missing Links in partnership with Frome Town Council.

Everything from rusty vintage-style 'project' bikes to top condition modern bikes have already been brought down to the first donation sessions and there are plenty of children's bikes, as well as adult town bikes, mountain bikes and full-suspension bikes for the trails. The donations include a number of shopper-style folding bikes and several well-made classic brands, including Dawes, Raleigh, and Claude Butler bikes.

Following the final donation session, all the bikes will get a quick check-over by a mechanic, so that buyers have some idea of the repairs and upgrades they might need to do to get their new wheels spinning beautifully.

Cllr Rich Ackroyd and Chair of Frome's Missing Links said: "We're always amazed at the generosity of Frome and the donations we have received so far. The Bike Jumble is also the perfect place to pick up new or lightly used tyres at bargain prices and components, including cassettes, pedals, and chain rings. We've also received accessories such as lights, bottle cages and bells. So, you'll be able to wheel away with the full set up!"

ding Frome will also be on hand to help with maintenance questions and quick bike-checks (on all bikes, not just bikes from the sale) under their Pay-It-Forward scheme.

Proceeds from the sale will go towards Frome's Missing Links campaign, which aims to get a traffic-free, multi-user path built from the centre of Frome out to the Colliers Way route running from Great Elm to Radstock.
