Boots in Frome today (September 24) still had a sign on its door asking customers to ask staff about flu jabs.

But later news broke that nationally the chemist has suspended its appointment booking system for anyone outside of the vulnerable groups, which include people aged over 65, to get a flu vaccine.

It said it faces "unprecedented demand" for vaccinations.

In a statement the company said it had suspended its appointment booking system for anyone outside of the vulnerable groups, which include people aged over 65.

It said it cannot guarantee that it will have enough doses due to the demand - while NHS England says enough stocks are available.

In late August Frome Medical Practice issued its regular update on the flu jab clinics it will hold - but also warned that it simply does not have the doses to be able to give vaccines to the over 50s - as was promised by the government.
