Unseasonably strong winds, transport disruptions, and potential power cuts: Somerset prepares as Storm Antoni roars in

Storm Antoni is churning up some serious weather and heading straight for Somerset this Saturday, August 5, according to the latest from the Met Office.

They've issued a weather warning, telling us to brace ourselves for some unseasonably windy conditions that are set to kick off from 8am and keep going until 8pm.

The Met is office is warning:

- Flying debris could be a real hazard, and there's a chance of injuries or even a risk to life.

- Buildings might take a beating, so don't be surprised if a few roof tiles go walkabout.

- Getting from A to B could get tricky. Expect possible hiccups with road, rail, air, and even ferry services. This could mean longer travel times and the chance of cancellations.

- Some of our roads and bridges might have to be closed, depending on how things play out.

- Power cuts are on the cards, and this could mess with other services like your mobile phone coverage.

- If you're near the coast, watch out for big waves. There's a chance of injuries and a threat to life from beach debris being hurled onto seafronts, coastal roads, and properties.

So, with Storm Antoni on the doorstep, it's a good idea for everyone to stay sharp, keep an eye on the latest weather updates, and get ready to hunker down if needed.
