Vallis School in Frome have their Forest School activities high up on their curriculum, so they were thrilled when the very enthusiastic parents' association (VSA- Vallis School Association) recently raised money to enhance the on-site forest area so that all children now have regular opportunities to enjoy fundays.

Each class has a time in Forest School and as you can see the sessions are certainly a highlight for the children.

In the Forest School Fundays at Vallis this half term they have been clearing away the last of the summer beans that they grew and collecting some of the dried beans to plant next year.

The school has been thinking ahead to Spring and planting a wide variety of bulbs round the school to feed the pollinators next year. They have also planted some beautiful jewel coloured cyclamen to give all the school planters some colour over winter.

The school said: " We have noticed a squirrel visiting our Forest School space so we hope he leaves us a few bulbs to grow! The children learn much about plants and what they need to grow through practical growing activities throughout the year. These outdoor activities very much enhance our science teaching and awareness of seasonal changes. "
