Bye bye Frome Independent until March next year

By Susie Watkins 4th Dec 2023

It was the final Frome Independent of the year on December 3 and thankfully, in spite of some showers, not as wet as this coming week is forecast to be in Frome.

The market was again hugely popular with visitors and offered over 200 traders across six areas; designer-maker; the flea market; homes and gardens; street food; food producers and suitcase traders on Catherine Hill.

This Sunday there was also an additional exhibition and stalls at the Silk Mill and an eco event, with some fabulous home made Christmas wrapping paper being made, over at the Bennett Centre.

The market is said to generate £2.5 million and is also an opportunity for local charities, such as Purple Elephant to put out the collection buckets. And there is also live music on the Frome Independent stage.

The market history

Established in 2009 as a not for profit company, the market began as St Catherine's Artisan Market, has in the past received grant funding from Mendip District Council and Frome Town Council, and in 2014 was rebranded as The Frome Independent.
