A landmark cafe in the centre of Frome is up for sale.

The Settle Restaurant is on the market for £465,000.

The building itself has served as a food and dining establishment for over a century and was previously known as the Flora Cafe, and before that it was The Albion pub.

The Settle was once Egon Ronay recommended and won a coveted Les Routiers award. It was started as The Settle in 1975 by a former shepherdess and you can hear her story on how she rebuilt the cafe, being forced to drive a tractor down Cheap Street, by clicking HERE Margaret Vaughan tells her Working Memories story

The current owners took over the Cheap Street address almost 22 years ago.

According to the listing on the Cooper & Tanner site it is 'rare opportunity to acquire such a freehold property and business in the centre of Frome.'

In a sign of the legacy The Settle has in the town, on the outside wall the winged wheel emblem of the Cyclists Touring Club which was formed in 1878 and indicates that the cafe welcomes cyclists. The CTC was rebranded Cycling UK in 2016.

The sale guide reads :

The first floor benefits a lounge bar area. WCs. Vaulted ceiling restaurant dining area with log fireplace and separate means of access to Eagle Lane.
