Somerset Highways is reporting that the centre of Frome will be closed to through traffic for at least another day - although unofficially those working on the building are hoping that this will be the final day it will need to be closed.

Bath Street has been cordoned off from the corner opposite the church to the bottom of Catherine Hill, since Friday, because of concerns about an unstable structure at number 20.

A beam at the front of the costume hire company, Absolutely Fabulous was considered not safe by a structural engineer, and so the road was closed to all traffic while the matter was investigated.

Nub News understands that today (November 16) there will be a meeting between engineers, builders and representatives from Mendip, to discuss how to deal with the problem. It is hoped that they will agree to scaffold up the front of the building, make safe the integrity of the four storey structure and re-open the road.
