THE volunteer team behind North Somerset Railway are hoping local people will back their call to improve local transport links.

A consultation is currently underway regarding proposals run by developed by the West of England Combined Authority in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council

New proposals have been developed to offer more options to travel sustainably - whether by bus or walking, wheeling or cycling.

The North Somerset Railway, which is a community interest company, believes there is a great opportunity to restore a railway branch line to Radstock linking up with Metro West.

They are campaigning for this and worked to create plans that are shown together with the cycleway extension into Frome.

Previously the group has twice been denied funding to help prepare a strategic outline business case to support restoration the branch line. And they hope that if enough residents support their cause, then their case may win through.

Later this week residents will get the chance to find out more in person and ask questions at a consultation event at Radstock Trinity Methodist Church, on Westfield Wells Road. It takes place on Wednesday, 12 July, between 2 and 7pm.

The online consultation continues until 6 August. Check out:
