Chicks bring Science to life at Vallis First School in Frome

By Ali Plumridge

There has been great excitement at Vallis First School over the last few weeks as the children have been eagerly awaiting the eggs in our incubator to hatch.

The children in the reception and KS1 classes were so excited to see the first cracks appearing on the egg shells and to even hear the chicks cheeping from inside the eggs!

The children were full of questions about eggs and hens.

This experience has really enhanced our science learning about the life cycle of a chicken.

The youngest children in the school have also been observing frogspawn and have been using magnifying glasses to watch the tadpoles daily to see if their legs are starting to grow.
