Great Big Spring Clean comes to Frome

By Lucy McMahon 22nd Mar 2024

For the second year running, Frome took part in The Great British Spring Clean, with 70 people gathering at the Boyle Cross on 21st March to tackle litter, weeding, graffiti and fly posting across the town centre.

The event was part of Frome Kindness Festival's 'Kindness to the Planet' day and hosted by Frome Town Council, with help from Frome Rotary, Frome Hoedown and Frome Litter Warriors.

Critchill School's refreshment van provided hot and cold drinks for the workers, the sun came out and a huge amount was achieved in two hours of combined effort.

Cllr Mark Dorrington said "Our team outside the library got on with lots of planting and weed clearing, and tidied up the street furniture and planters. Thanks to everyone who came out in such numbers to make the task easier and more sociable and to the Kindness Festival for including us.

Many of our new volunteer rangers were out with us for the spring clean, which was great to see. Hopefully the newly cleaned cuboards, windows and bins will stay poster-free from now on."
