Two play areas in Frome have received makeovers as part of the People's Budget vote last year.

The new kit was selected by the local communities at a number of small feedback events, where they could choose whether it should be aimed at younger or older children and which type of equipment they most wanted to see.

Mayor of Frome Mark Dorrington said: "We feel that local people know their community best and the People's Budget enables them to vote and make choices about how funds are spent in their area.

"It's good to see families making the most of the green spaces on their doorsteps and I look forward to seeing the new equipment being enjoyed for many years to come."

The Packsaddle play area refresh is finished, and the local community group are busy planning a neighbourhood barbecue on 30 June to celebrate, keep an eye out on their Facebook page for more details.

Tower View's refurbishment is just in need of the finishing touches including new resurfacing of the play area and the Friends of the Mount, Marston and Keyford (MCA) are planning a celebratory event for early July.

Jessica Slater from MCA said: "We are absolutely thrilled that Tower View Park has been given a much-needed facelift along with new play equipment.

"The Friends of The Mount, Marston and Keyford Community Association have been raising funds with the help of the community for many years and will continue to work with Frome Town Council to make our corner of Frome a lovely place to live."

Frome Town Council's parks and green areas have a lot to offer, from walking and relaxing to playing and events such as the Children's Festival coming up in Welshmill on Sunday 23 June from 11am-5pm.

There's a whole lot of free fun planned - zip wires across the river, face painting, henna tattoos, street art, graffiti, music, demos and workshops on the pump track, circus, sensory tent, reading corner, forest school, crafts, cardboard city, games coding and fun science to name just a few.
