The North Somerset MP John Penrose, who is the anti corruption tsar, has resigned saying the PM should have already quit for having broken (in Penrose's view) the ministerial code of conduct. The MP, who represents Weston super Mare and is married to Dido Harding, wrote today (June 6) that following Boris Johnson's reply last week about the Ministerial Code, "it's pretty clear he has broken it. That's a resigning matter for me, and it should be for the PM too. "

Frome Nub News has approached Frome MP David Warburton to find out whether he has confidence in the Prime Minister.

We asked for his response last week and have again asked as news broke that the number of MPs who do not want Boris Johnson to lead the party has today (June 6) reached the threshold to trigger a secret vote of all Conservative MP's in his leadership.

The test of Boris Johnson was triggered after at least 54 Conservative MPs wrote that they did not have confidence in the PM - but the names behind the letters are not announced.

However it is not understood to include David Warburton, who according to the Local Democracy Reporter is currently listed as an independent.

The first Somerset MP to come out publicly against the PM was Ian Liddell Grainger, MP for Bridgwater & West Somerset has confirmed he will vote for Johnson's removal. In a statement this morning he called on Johnson to step down. He confirmed he will be casting a proxy vote against him in tonight's ballot.

David Warburton has been unable to work as the town's MP since he had the whip suspended while under investigation for sexual harassment by the Commons' independent complaints and grievance scheme. News of that broke on April 2.

He checked into a medical facility following allegations of drug taking and behaving inappropriately to three women, and in spite of repeated requests for an update on what he would be doing about the constituency and his seat, no comment has been given to Frome Nub News.

At least 180 Conservative MPs - a majority - will have to vote against Boris Johnson to force him out. Under the current rules, if the Prime Minister wins the confidence vote, he would be immune from the same kind of challenge to his leadership for the next 12 months.
