Permission has been granted to change the allocation of affordable housing at a new estate being built in Frome.

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes have been given permission from Somerset Council to switch the type of affordable homes on site at the Keyford estate.

When planning permission for the 118 homes in Frome was approved, the council agreed this would include seven designated for shared ownership and 28 for social rent.

But now the developers have asked to introduce a number of 'affordable rent' properties.

This will still see 35 affordable homes built, but these will now be split between shared ownership (11), affordable rent (eight) and social rent (16).

"The proposed non material amendment would not have a material impact upon the planning permission as originally granted," a council report said.

The estate forms part of a much wider development in the area.

"The amended tenure mix is welcome. The proposed affordable housing scheme is acceptable," the report continued.
