At the beginning of the month Frome RFC Director of Rugby, Cameron Hastie took on a gruelling challenge to run 100 miles in February, all in aid of the charity Bone Cancer Research Trust. Well, today he clocked in his final miles at Frome RFC's Gypsy Lane having raised a whopping £2025 and ran a astounding 201 miles.
We caught up with Cameron who said: "Firstly I'd like to thank everyone for their generosity and support over the month, it's been very humbling.
"About three months ago I was unable to walk let alone run, this was due to sciatica and pretty much thought that my rugby training and running days would be over, however with the help from Dixon Health Chiropractors in Frome they've got me back up and fighting fit.
"As for running 100 miles for a fantastic charity Bone Cancer Research Trust (Team Bones) why wouldn't you! With all cancer charities, they all do outstanding work. After completing 100 miles I decided that I'd keep going and aim for 200 miles.
"Now 28 days later, 200 miles achieved and a fantastic amount raised, £2025, I'm speechless by the generosity and overwhelming support, thank you all. (Donations can still be made up until the 7th March.)
"Finally thanks to my wife Sonia for massaging my sore feet and my running partner Finley our dog. Much love and respect."
The Club would like to congratulate Cameron on this incredible achievement, having raised so much money and the distance he's covered. Donations came from far and wide, with club members, family, well wishers and even the club's official kit supplier VX3 contributing to the final tally.
