Will a map show where our MP is?
Will a map show where our MP is?

This Discover Frome box outside the town library has today (February 16) been fixed and so maps of the local attractions and places of interest are now available again.

But what the map box will NOT tell frustrated Frome residents is where their MP, David Warburton is.

Frome Nub News has tried contacting Mr Warburton, by phone and email and the local Conservative Association, which this weekend will be hosting MP Penny Mordaunt at their annual celebration dinner in Ilminster. We have had no reply to any of our enquiries.

He did tell a local TV reporter earlier this week that he is being smeared, but on his web site, which was updated today, no formal statement.

Last weekend there were more stories in a newspaper about the MP who has had the Conservative whip withdrawn while investigations into his conduct, which included a series of allegations of sexual harassment and cocaine use, were underway.

Full details about the investigation into a previously revealed loan for £150,000 and the reference he gave to a London-based businessman Roman Joukovski, have now been concluded, and can be read on the parliamentary investigation site, where it is detailed that Mr Warburton, met the financial advisor at a Mayfair bar in 2016. But within the mailings between the MP, who first faced allegations in April 2022 published by the Sunday Times newspaper, the Frome and Somerton MP writes: " My only error was using parliamentary paper for this reference."

Mr Joukovski is listed on many companies as a director HERE , but the one referenced, Dolphin, which supplied so-called golden visas to those wanting to have UK residency, no longer exists.

The latest allegations against the Frome MP, also published in the Sunday Times are that :

  • He put in a false document in support of his application for a seven-figure loan from Clydesdale Bank.
  • He failed to declare a £25,000 donation towards his re-election from Sir Cameron Mackintosh, the theatre producer behind shows including Les Misérables. (This has retrospectively been declared)
  • And he used a childhood friend to act as a frontman for his and his wife's shares in a property company, Somerset Homes Ltd.

Frome Nub News will continue to try and contact the MP, and his wife Harriet, who works as his Communications Officer.
