Extraordinary council meeting to explore private lease for Badgers Hill Stadium

By James Smith 30th May 2025

Frome Town Council is set to hold an Extraordinary Council Meeting to consider a proposal from a private operator to lease Badgers Hill Stadium.

The deal could also include an option to buy the ground.

The meeting will take place on Thursday 5 June 2025 at 7pm.

Chair of the Council Fiona Barrows said: "It's clear that many local people feel strongly and passionately about the football club, the footballing tradition in Frome and the stadium as a community asset.

"It's why FTC stepped in to save Badgers Hill in 2022 when that asset was under threat, and we're still invested in it.

"The council meeting on 30 April gave councillors an opportunity to hear from some of those people, but not all of the Badgers Hill stakeholders had an opportunity to share their view.

"Therefore, quite rightly, councillors decided against a final decision at that meeting.

"The extraordinary meeting on 5th June is a chance to hear from all the interested parties, with space for all to be heard, learn more about the potential lessee's proposal and their intentions and make a fully informed decision.

"Space in the council chamber is limited and we're expecting the meeting to be extremely busy, so only ticket holders will be able to attend in person. There will also be an opportunity to book tickets to join the meeting online.

"In the meantime, please use the directions in the public notice published on the FTC website and the current issue of Frome Times, also detailed below, to ensure your feedback is part of the discussion."

The Extraordinary Council Meeting on 5 June is a public meeting, incorporating a private session for councillors, before the announcement of the council's decision.

Any objections or representations about the proposal must be made in writing and sent to:

Town Clerk, Frome Town Council, Frome Town Hall, Christchurch Street West, Frome BA11 1EB
