They are being careful not to overpromise when the 'plaice' might be ready, but Codswallop in Frome looked about ready to fry today (February 6).

The fish and chip shop favourite has been closed since an unfortunate accident meant that the front plate glass window was smashed by a reversing car.

Insurance delays, Covid and complex ordering of new equipment meant all plans for a quick refry refit were smashed too.

But now the popular shop, on Forest Road, alongside the Tesco Express looks ready.

The owners posted on January 27 :

Hello everyone, we have wanted to update you and let you know an opening date but didn't want to get ours and your hopes up!! The range is in, waiting on some equipment. We will let you know as soon as we have a date! Fingers we will see you in a couple of weeks! ðŸŸðŸŸ
