The unity of the Frome Community - the Town Council asks how can it carry on post coronavirus?

The annual Frome Town Council meeting is tomorrow (May 20) and you can join in, on line, with a decision due on a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

They will also be discussing what strategy to put in place coming out of the coronavirus lockdown.

In the agenda of the meeting, which is due to start at 7pm, councillors ask whether the "all hands on deck" attitude can be best harnessed to bring back Frome as a busy and successful town.

The papers talk about forming a 'Leap Forward Panel' of councillors to increase business vitality and engage all areas of the community over the coming months.

The virtual council meeting will also hear from the Friends of the River Frome.

They have put forward plans to conserve the river and its banks with a warning that : " Frome is growing rapidly and a further 2000 homes are likely to be built over the next 10-20 years, bringing the population to over 30,000.... it will be crucial to consider fully the environmental and social implications of these changes, especially if undeveloped fields are proposed to be replaced with concrete and tarmac."

You can read the agenda papers here:

the FTC website and on the main council web site learn how you can see the meeting on line.
