With over thirty pubs in Frome, the town is missing its pints, but for the owners, if they want to survive they need to bring some of that community spirit out from the bar.

Nub News previewed the Three Swans on King Street which has taken to takeaways sales to keep going, but wants to thank everyone involved for making it happen.

As one of the partners Lucy Cooper explained to Nub News, the pub wouldn't have been able to adapt unless further up the supply chain, they were also being business savvy.

She will be talking to Radio Somerset today (May 19) as part of their Make a Difference' section, where they talk about local organisation and set-ups who are providing services throughout the lockdown to help the communities in and around Somerset.

Lucy said: " Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you to our local suppliers, such as Butcombe Brewery and Glastonbury Brewing Company, who have had to think outside of the box just like the rest of us in all this, but have managed to keep a reliable service and fantastic product.

"This is now reflected in the takeaway service. Since we started, the support from our customers has been so overwhelming. We are first and foremost a drinking pub, and switching from primarily draught-led sales to bottles has been a scary prospect, but everyone has welcomed it and continue to engage with and support their local - and we bloomin' love them all for it."

Lucy also wanted to give a big vote of thanks to customers have taken it upon themselves to keep the pub's traditions going, including the Three Swans Pop Quiz - which has now gone virtual thanks to quizmasters Andy Morten and Paul Tozer, as well as multiple other guest hosts - who are all regulars of the pub.

Lucy said: " It has created a fantastic community spirit online.. not too dissimilar from that of The Swans when we are open."

The new takeaway service sees collection on Fridays and Saturdays, with ordering by tomorrow midday (Tuesday)

Lucy explained:

- We will be open every Friday 2pm-5pm and every Saturday 12pm-3pm for collection-only takeaway bottled booze.

- We will be offering a variety of takeaway bottles of ale, lager, cider, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, as well as snacks, pies and sausage rolls.

- Customers are welcome to contact us to make pre-orders, via Facebook, Instagram, telephone or website. Orders must be in by midday on the Tuesday of the week you want them ready for collection that weekend. Leave a message with contact details and Lucy will be in touch to confirm orders.

- Collections to be paid for on the Friday or Saturday with contactless card (cash too, but card is preferable) at the front door of the pub. Social distancing will be observed.
