Somerset Council is asking residents to put their recycling and rubbish bins out the night before collection and by 6am at the latest, if their collection falls between Monday, 24 and Wednesday, 26 June.

Crews will be starting early to help them cope with the forecast hot weather and to help beat the extra traffic on the roads due to Glastonbury Festival.

This should limit any disruption to recycling, rubbish or garden waste collections across the county - the council said.

"Waste collection is hard, physical work and early starts help limit the time crews spend working in the hottest part of the day," a council statement said.

As well as starting early next week, crews will be out across the county collecting missed recycling collections tomorrow (Saturday, 22 June).

Residents who have had a missed collection, and reported it in the last couple of days, should leave their bin, boxes and bag out for collection.

Residents can report a missed waste collection online: www.somerset.gov.uk/missed-collection
