Final details are coming together which will see the local election boundary for Frome radically change.
Under the constituency plans, votes for any Frome MP will in the future include those from Midsomer Norton and Radstock - which currently have Jacob Rees Mogg as their representative in parliament.
Frome's MP David Warburton, is currently suspended from the Conservative Whip, since allegations against him came to light in April, but says he is still dealing with thousands of constituency issues. He posted on Wednesday, 26 October, that the investigation into his conduct is reaching a conclusion but there is an on-going campaign to have him replaced as MP. They say he is ineffective. He insisted on his web page that "Much of the work of an MP is, in this way, unseen. Like the surgeries for local people I continue to hold."
The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) published its initial proposals in June 2021 for the new parliamentary constituencies which would take effect before the next UK general election. Respondents now have just four weeks to make their opposition to any planned changes.
Under the proposals, the total number of seats in the House of Commons will remain at 650 – but the number of constituencies in England will increase from 533 to 543.
The new boundaries are designed to make representation more equal, with each of the new seats having a population of between 69,724 and 77,062 people.
