Frome College to meet up with students of two year groups with a view to them coming back
Frome College has announced (May 18) that it will be meeting face to face with pupils from two year groups amid speculation about re-opening schools.
In a letter to parents the principal Emma Reynolds has said they will be meeting pupils from Years 10 and 12. Her letter is as follows: "With the media full of articles about schools reopening on 1st June for some year groups, I want to make clear how the Government's ambition will affect us at College. We have been asked to provide some 'face to face' time for Year 10 and Year 12 students with their teachers before the end of this academic year and so I have outlined below how this will work safely at College. From 8th June we will hold individual reviews for each student in Year 10 and Year 12. This means Year 10 and Year 12 students will be invited into college for a booked appointment slot of 20-30 minutes. The student will meet two teachers to discuss their experience of lockdown, and raise any concerns about coming back to College for our staff to pick up on and assess any emotional or academic needs. In effect these are planning meetings to see how we can best help each individualstudent move forward. "
The students will not be accompanied by parents.
Once these appointments have been completed the school will begin to look at offering workshops to Year 10 and Year 12.
For other years the school remains on a remote teaching basis and specifically the College spelt out that there are " no plans for Year 9 to physically return to College before September. "
