Frome College today (November 13) sent home all pupils in a year group after learning that one of those students testing positive for coronavirus.

All pupils from Year 11 who are currently taking mock GCSE exams were sent home immediately.

The last day the student was on the college site was

Friday 9 so all the year group will not be allowed back into school until November 23.

The College stated : " The college remains open for other year groups and all other children should continue to attend."

There seems to be some confusion about what this means for the families of those pupils but on the government site it is made clear that THEY are not expected to isolate unless they test positive themselves.

Government advice is : " You must self-isolate for 14 days after you were in contact with the person who has tested positive for coronavirus. This is crucial to avoid unknowingly spreading the virus and failure to do so can result in a fine, starting from £1,000.

"Self-isolation means staying at home and not going outside your home at any time. If you live with other people, they do not need to self-isolate, but they should avoid contact with you as far as possible and follow advice on hygiene. "

Later it was reported that pupils in Year 7 at Selwood Academy were also sent home today (November 13). Frome Nub News is trying to verify that.
