A fundraiser to pay for shutters to better protect the Frome community fridge has almost reached its target goal in just a few days.

The fridge door was, again, damaged by vandals, over the Christmas period, so the volunteer team started a funding page to invest in some steel shutters.

You can read the Frome Nub News story about the glass being smashed HERE: including how much food waste the team stopped from going into landfill over Christmas.

Organiser Terri Pitts told Nub News : " We are overwhelmed by the support shown by the community. We are now looking into all security options to work out what's best for the Community Fridge.

"I would personally like to thank everyone who has donated. If you haven't donated please go to our go fund me page. Any additional money we collect will go into renovations of the fridge and larder."

The fund HERE is now close to its target but needs a little push

Frome's was the first community fridge in the UK and opened in April 2016.
