Several areas in the UK - including North Somerset - have been hit by recycling and rubbish collecting problems due to staff shortages due to covid.

That is currently not the case for Frome collections, but the waste collection service has asked people to try and slim their waste.

Somerset Waste Partnership has put out the following advisory not to overload the recycling teams.

It posted on its social media account:

Clearing up? Do not overload your boxes, bags and bins. Sort (recycle, charity-reuse-repair, rubbish), plan, and either - if space and safe - store to put it out over time or - if you wish and if you have time, transport or help - drop it all off at a recycle site.

Frome is one of nine recycling sites open today (January 4)

From 9am to 5pm: Bridgwater, Castle Cary, Chard, Cheddar, Frome, Street, Taunton, Williton, Yeovil. It also reminded residents that there are no garden waste collections this week.
