Seven explorer scouts from Frome and Rode have been selected to be part of the UK Contingent going to World Scout Jamboree in South Korea next summer.

The Jamboree takes place every 4 years and is a camp of over 50,000 scouts aged between 14-17 from all over the world. It's aims is to promote global development, peace, cultural understanding, friendship, adventure and fun.

Mathilda & Gil from Frome & Mendip Explorers and Jess, Harry, Grace, Juliet & Sam from the Rode group had to go through a rigorous selection process including written application, interviews and two practical selection days but were successful and are now very excited to be heading to South Korea.

The explorers are now busy fundraising as each young person needs to raise over £4,000, not only to cover their costs but also to enable scouts from less affluent countries to attend and make it a truly global inclusive event.

They have lots of fundraising activities happening and will be at the Lions Fete at Victoria Park on Saturday running a Coconut Shy and Kids Tombola. They will also be selling Fathers day gifts, family quizzes and raffle tickets for their big prize draw (Prizes include: - a weekend at an air bnb, Alton Towers Passes and a Longleat Family pass).

If you would like to know more or would like to donate to their fundraising come and see us at the fete, email [email protected] or you can donate via https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lucy-townsend-2
