Despite the second lockdown, outdoor markets have been given permission by the government to continue trading during November, selling food, drink and plants. The highly popular and busy Frome Farmer's Market is therefore delighted to confirm that their market at the Cheese & Grain patio this coming Saturday, the 14th November, is going ahead.
Louise Hall is the organiser of the local Somerset Farmers' Markets.
'This is great news and comes as a big relief to all of our dedicated farmers and producers,' says Louise. 'I know that all our regular customers in Frome will also be delighted. The last market we held in Frome was a big success, so if you have never been to a Farmers' Market before this is definitely the time to do so. It is certainly a great deal safer to be shopping in the open air rather than inside.'
At all of the Somerset Farmers' Markets events, the organisers have been working hard to ensure that the experience is both a safe and an enjoyable one.
'We take our responsibilities to reduce the coronavirus being transmitted very seriously and each stall has put in place safety procedures,' adds Louise. 'We will also continue to limit the numbers entering the patio, so I would ask all of our visitors to please be patient. We would also ask that just one person or household group be at a stall at any one time, so that social distancing can be maintained. If possible, customers are also asked to shop alone. The wearing of face coverings is also strongly encouraged.'
The markets are sponsored by local solicitors Thatcher + Hallam. Lucy Ingram is head of Commercial Property and Business Law at the firm.
'This remains a very challenging time for all our great local farmers and producers,' says Lucy. 'Support from the community makes a real difference to local businesses, who work so hard. If you are able to, then pop on down to Saturday's market outside the Cheese & Grain.'
At the time of going to press, there is a great line-up ready for this weekend's market, including regulars Brown Cow Organic, Mere Fish Farm and Whitelake Cheese. This week's market also extends a warm welcome to the Dorset Dairy Company who specialise in their own cultured butter, cream, Greek-style yoghurts as well as fresh milk in re-usable glass bottles.
The market at Frome runs between 9am and 1pm every second Saturday of the month. There is good parking at the venue itself.
