With just two weeks of fundraising left to go the local bank has helped the Frome Town Football Club funding appeal over the half way line.

Thanks to a donation from a collection from all the staff at NatWest in Frome, Bath and Bristol they are over £12,000 into their appeal for £20,000 to keep the club afloat.

Fittingly it was the local director of the Bristol and Bath branches for Natwest's personal banking arm, Nik Warwick who encouraged the donation.

He told Nub News: " I have had a personal relationship with Frome for a while as I have friends who play for the club and I regularly go to games.

"I also have the NatWest Frome branch within my local market so when I saw the crowdfunding page I reached out to see how we could help.

"My whole team across Bristol, Bath and Frome were happy to get behind the cause and the money was raised through staff donations. Frome are a great club who give a lot back to the local community so we are more than happy to be able to contribute to keeping them going in these tough times."

The Robins as they are known have had support from all over the world, but closer to home a sign of the town's love for their local club has seen hundreds of small donations.

And the team themselves have been big on support, buying seats at the Badgers Hill stadium.

The Club launched a novel crowdfundraiser to keep them afloat, with donations in return for a named seat AND the chance to get the stadium renamed.

To date (April 28) 147 of the 400 seats have now been sold to keep Frome Football Club solvent ready for the upcoming season.

The Robins have had hundreds of donations, including many from the players themselves.

One of those who bought a seat (surely he should be playing !?) was club captain Sam Teale - who has purchased a seat at the ground and is helping to drive more donations for the club.

A spokesman for the club said: " Thank you again to everyone. We honestly never thought we would raise over £7,000 from our fans, management team and players. We hope that more companies come in to reward you for your donations with free football next season. "

In other good news for the club it has been announced that the manager Danny Greaves has extended his stay with the Robins for a further two years. This will see Danny remain at the helm at least until the end of the 21/22 season.
