Frome Nub News would like to welcome its new regular Interior Design blogger Annie Webb. Here Annie introduces herself, and talks about her ethos behind home, renovation and interior design.

Hello, I'm Annie Webb. In 2017 I left corporate life as a Talent Management Coach and Consultant for Amadeus, a top 15 global tech company. I loved the job, it was incredibly rewarding supporting and helping others. People always relate to those who encourage and energise them.

But like many of us, combining and juggling work, family life and renovating houses, it was time to stop and listen to my own advice and follow my real passion. I finally succeeded in a long-held ambition, achieving a Diploma in Interior Design. This added a sound technical base to my previous practical renovation experience.

My hobby is now an exciting business but I try to listen to everyone individually as I'm not a fan of dictatorial interior design strict rules. I prefer to use my coaching skills to help clients find their own unique style and personality for their design decisions.

Back in the day when our kids were little, me and husband Ken bought a two up, two down terrace. We didn't know it then, but that moment changed our lives. This may sound cheesy but its true! This love of property has grown from a hobby (some would say an obsession) as over the years, we renovated eight houses, period and modern.

I always loved working with digital design, and I had taught myself Photoshop years ago to create visually exciting, interactive workshops and presentations. But studying for my Interior Design Diploma, I was seriously challenged with technical drawing and I nearly gave up! I'm so glad I persevered as I now enjoy creating a perfectly drawn scheme.

Digital tools are a fantastic way to see the potential of an interior concept straight away. Spacial flow planning, 3D visuals and concept boards lets you see at a glance if a design concept works for your lifestyle and changes are made quickly. This takes away the guess work of committing to a design decision too early. We all see things differently, so relying on verbal or written communication for visually creative work is problematic.

Something wonderful will happen is the town motto. It's carved into a wall in Willow Vale, by the river in the town, and I love the optimism! Kids flown the nest, me and Ken moved to Frome, one of the most lively, creative market towns in the UK. Always a joy to walk into town, soaking up the vibe of a brilliant community. I love wandering around the cobbled streets with my dog Lulu, meeting friends and family in the many independent shops or cafés.

On moving, we opted to update a 1960s house within walking distance to town. We quickly found an ideal candidate, spacious, not overlooked and with bucket loads of potential. I'm already documenting progress on my website www.myinteriorscoach.com or watch for the next instalment on Frome Nub News!
