Frome Library closes for six weeks

Frome library will close at the end of this month until March 11.
The building is being closed for building improvements.
In a letter to users they explained:
Somerset Libraries have been fortunate to receive government funding to undertake some decarbonisation work at Frome Library. This means that the library will close for 6 weeks from 31st January. There will be building works being undertaken outside of this time period, but you should not be unduly affected by this.
As part of the Somerset County Council's climate emergency strategy, this building work will have a significant impact on reducing the carbon footprint of Frome Library, in addition to other council owned buildings that are also undergoing similar building improvements. "
There will be a pop-up library service at Frome Wednesday and Saturday markets, but they admit service will be limited.
The library also serves as an information point for those needing help with social and financial matters including help paying council bills, and it also offers help to those looking for work.
Frome Nub News has asked Somerset to explain what is meant by " decarbonisation works" and why the library needs to be closed in its entirety for all this time.
All items on loan, will be automatically renewed to at least 19th March 2022 but they have warned that: " If you have items out that are overdue prior to closure, they will be automatically renewed, but you will have the overdue charge to pay."
